Android Auto Update for HMI 2.5

Android Auto Update for HMI 2.5

There are some Opel models, especially those launched in early 2016, that despite being equipped with an HMI2.5 compatible with Android Auto and CarPlay, only have CarPlay installed, without an Android Auto option.

This is because both systems were launched in different years , and Opel took a little longer to update its systems for Android Auto. Fortunately, there's a backwards-compatible update that will enable Android Auto in HMI2.5-equipped vehicles that only have CarPlay.

To find out if you have an HMI 2.0 or HMI 2.5, simply look at the main menu. If you see an icon labeled "projection," if that icon is present, you have an HMI 2.5. Additionally, if CarPlay appears in the options but Android Auto doesn't appear below, this service is 100% compatible.

The update is performed in two steps: a USB update and new software that can only be installed using a diagnostic interface. We recommend performing this service in our workshop, but you can send us your HMI2.5 and we will return it to you updated. We can also perform this update through one of our remote partners or by using our J2534 device rental service.
