HMI 2.5 retrofit for Insignia A from 2014 onwards

This retrofit replaces your original HMI module with an HMI 2.5 unit, enabling Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with full compatibility and a significant improvement in system speed. It's a direct upgrade to enhance your Opel’s performance without altering the original equipment.

What is the HMI module? The HMI (Human-Machine Interface) is the component that manages the interaction between the driver and the multimedia, navigation, and telephone functions. It controls the on-screen image, processes USB data, and synchronizes the Bluetooth functions of the Intellilink 900 system. The HMI 2.5 module improves all of this with a faster processor and smoother operation.

There are two main versions installed in Opel vehicles: HMI 2.0 and HMI 2.5. Only HMI 2.5 supports CarPlay/Android Auto. To check which version your car has, simply look at the main menu—if the “Projection” icon is missing, you have HMI 2.0 and this upgrade is 100% compatible.

Which vehicles are compatible? This product is compatible with any Opel equipped with an HMI module. If you're unsure about your unit, contact us and we’ll verify it before purchase. Generally, this applies to all Insignia A models manufactured between 2014–2015 and early 2016.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it installed? Direct replacement. Remove the HMI 2.0 or 1.1 module and install the HMI 2.5. No physical modifications required. You can view the process in our video guide.

Does CarPlay/Android Auto work wirelessly? No, the original system does not support wireless functionality. You can add external adapters like this example.

Are any functions lost? No. The entire system continues to work as before, but with faster speed and better processing power.

What if I don’t have a rear camera? We can activate the function for free. We also offer a compatible camera installation kit for €40, with quality similar to the original. We’ll also provide the connection point on the module.

Is additional configuration needed after installation? Yes. It’s mandatory to update the radio software using a USB file that will be sent by email. You’ll need to download and install it following our instructions to ensure full compatibility with CarPlay/Android Auto.

Any technical details to consider? Yes. If your USB port includes an SD card reader (as in some Insignia models), it must be replaced—CarPlay does not work with that type of port. Android Auto is compatible in both cases.
